How to Participate

The Freedom Now Global Art Exchange and Exhibit combines education about the issue of human trafficking, the creation of original artwork on relevant themes, and the exchange and exposure of that artwork to an international audience. This project is a wonderful opportunity for schools, art departments, groups, organizations, and individual student artists who want to support the victims of human trafficking while participating in a worthy service project. The full awareness campaign has been broken into four simple and adaptable steps.

1: Education

In order to work towards the eradication of slavery, you must first understand what it is and how it reveals itself in the 21st century context. You can download Guria's sample curriculum here

2: Art Creation

Following the education piece, create art with your students, your friends, your classmates, members of your community! This can be any form of art related to human trafficking. Poetry, painting, short-stories, song, dance; the possibilities are endless. Put your creative mind to work!

3: Global Exchange

After you have created your trafficking-related art, use this website to join the global exchange. Share your art with other participating organizations by uploading it. Please submit the art by February 8th, 2017. Globalize your own exhibit by browsing other student's art and selecting pieces to download and print, to add to your own exhibit on February 24th.

4: Art Exhibit

On February 24th, 2017, join the worldwide movement of hundreds of students and groups across the world. Put on an exhibit in your own community! To prepare for the exhibit, look through the artwork of the other students around the world, print out some or all of the other pieces (feel free to include art from years past!), and create a display in some central location, inviting your community to enjoy, consume, ponder, and discuss human trafficking, as shown through the eyes of students around the world. This exhibit can also be a space for performance art, a movie showing, guest speakers, group discussions, and so much more.
